Service Facilities Management
A ‘facility’ is a building or premises used to perform work. Facilities management is the management of the buildings and services required to maintain the building in a usable condition. The services applicable to building management include: environmental (air conditioning), utilities, cleaning, security, landscaping, emergency services, and property management.
It is the role of facility management to ensure that everything is available and operating properly for building occupants to do their work and to coordinate all efforts related to planning, designing, and managing buildings, their systems, equipment, and furniture to enhance the organizations ability to work efficiently and compete successfully. Facilities Management as it applies to computing locations is an element of Data Center Management.
