A "key performance measure" is any used within a performance measurement framework to measure the efficiencies and effectiveness of the service management system. Typically performance measures are defined at three levels to provide visibility of progress against objectives, strategies, and tactical operations.
Good measures provide visibility and management control over the quality and cost of services, identify problems, and enable the opportunity for continuous improvement.
The key performance measures library provides access to 'best practice' styled performance measures, categorized by one of the seven types described in the USMBOK performance management framework:

The practice lifecycle supports the needs of a continuous improvement cycle and is easily integrated into a Lean Thinking, or similar quality management system.
